Deficiency with phlegm-damp causing rebellious ST Qi → relentless hiccups, belching, nausea, vomiting regurgitation, Epigastric distention, hard focal distention in the epigastrium, pale tongue with smooth white coat, empty and slippery and/or wiry
Xuan Fu Dai Zhe Tang
cold invading the LV channel causing Qi stagnation → swollen distended testicles caused by cold, lower abdominal pain radiating to testicles, pale swollen tongue, submerged or slow pulse
Tian Tai Yu Wu San
Phlegm heat in the LU → Cough, wheezing, copious thick yellow sputum, labored breathing, possible chills and fever, greasy yellow tongue coat and slipper-rapid pulse
Ding Chuan Tang
LU phlegm damp due to KD yang xu with rebellious LU Qi [excess above deficiency below with cough and wheezing] → coughing and wheezing, shortness of breathe, dyspnea [difficulty on inhalation, easy exhalation], expectoration of copious sputum, chest oppression, fatigue, low back and knee weakness, aching in low back and legs, edema in lower extremities, pale swollen with thick moist coat and slippery-weak pulse
Su Zi Jiang Qi Tang
LV Qi stagnation with heat causing pain → intermittent Epigastric or hypochondriac pain, pain made worse by spicy food (any form of heat), abdominal distention, irritability, dysmenorrhea, hernia pain, bitter taste in the mouth, red tongue with yellow coat, wiry and rapid pulse
Jing Ling Zi San
LV Qi stagnation with cold → epigastric and abdominal pain relieved with warmth, possible dysmenorrhea with cold, feeling of oppression and pale tongue with white coat, wiry and slow pulse
Ling Fu Wan
LV Qi and phlegm stagnation causing plum pit syndrome → feeling as though plum pit is stuck in throat and can be neither swallowed up or down, feeling of oppression in chest, hypochondrium, cough with expectoration of white sputum, nausea and vomiting in severe cases, wiry and slippery pulse, normal or dusky tongue with moist or white greasy coating (suppressed emotions)
Ban Xia Hou Po Tang
LV Qi and blood stagnation causing pain in the hypochondrium → pain beneath ribcage due to emotional constraint, anger or trauma
Shu Gan Tang
LV Qi stagnation → Flank pain, stifling sensation in the chest, sighing, suppressed emotions, frustration that gives rise to anger, belching, abdominal distention and fullness, alternating chills and fever, pulse is wiry and tongue is normal
Chai Hu Shu Gan San
Stagnation of Qi that leads to phlegm, damp, fire or food stagnation → chest and hypochondriac distention, belching, acid regurgitation, indigestion, nausea or vomiting, distended breast pain, poor appetite, dysmenorrhea, mild cough and copious sputum
