Caffeine effects
Low doses: enhanced vigor and ability to concentrate
High doses: tension and anxiety
Caffeine mechanisms of action at low doses
Blocks A1 and A2A receptors for adenosine (induces drowsiness/sleep)
Caffeine mechanisms of action at high doses
Blocks GABA receptors and stimulates release of Ca2+
