Exam 2 Cumulative Review Flashcards
Which organs do the lung channel pass through
LI, ST, LU
Where does the LU channel originate
the middle jiao
What is the pathway of the lung
Starts at middle jiao-> LI -> returns upward to pass through cardiac orifice of the stomach -> diaphragm -> penetrates LU -> throat -> antero-medial aspect of the arm -> styloid process of the radius (LU7) branches off to the radial side of thumb and radial side of tip of index finger
What is the function of the LU
governs qi and controls respiration; controls decimating and descending, regulating water passages, controls skin and body hair; opens to the nose
This point on the LU Channel is good for psycho-emotional disorders such a somnolence, floating corpse ghost talk, disharmony between qi of the body and the head with qi and blood rebelling upwards (rebellious LU Qi and Liver fire attacks from LU); Lung Point: goiter, scrofula
LU3
This point is the window of sky point on the LU channel
LU3
This point LU point will treat cough, chest pain/tightness, anxiety, and grief; if deficient, point will be mushy and will need to be tonified
LU1
This is a LU point that treats local issues, shoulder and chest pain, coughing and wheezing
LU2
This LU point is similar to LU2: it treats cough asthma, shortness of breath, chest pain, and local arm pain
LU4
This LU point treats rebellious qi (hiccupping, vomiting), clears heat and phlegm: its important to reduce excess or deficiency heat in the LU- cough with yellow sticky phlegm, tidal fever, cough with blood; digestive problems (vomit, diarrhea), local issues: restrictive movement of the elbow
LU5
This LU point treats acute cough, wheezing or asthma; stops bleeding (coughing blood)
LU6
This point on the lung channel treats excess conditions such as heat sensations in the wrist and palm; shortness of breath; enuresis; and frequent urination and treats deficient conditions such as yawning
LU7 or Collateral of hand taiyin/ lou connecting
This point treats external-internal channel or zang-fu organ problems such as nasal problems, expel wind, allergies, bell’s palsy, common cold; headache, pain of the neck and nape, wind disorders which effect the head
- it also treats psycho emotional disorders and local (wrist) pain
LU7
This point is the confluent point of the conception vessel and treats irregular menstruation, infertility in men and women, hernia, nocturnal emission, enuresis
LU7
This point on the LU channel treats all metal issues such as cough, dyspnea, chills; skin issues, grief, laryngitis; and local issues of the wrist
LU8
This LU point is an essential point to tonify LU qi and yin; tx respiratory problems, cough, wheezing, shortness of breath; This point is good for tonifying blood (blood deficiency, anemia, paleness, fatigue)
*If patient is deficient needling this point will make it worse
LU9
