Vellus
Replaces baby hair and similarly fine and pale. 2/3 the hair of women. 1/10 male hair. 100% child hair except eyebrows.
Lanugo
Fine, downy, unpigmented hair that appears on the fetus in the last 3 months of development

Longer and coarser and more pigmented

The hairs bulk. Elongated keratinized cells that appear cuboidal to flattened in cross section

Composed of multiple layers of very thin scaly cells that overlap each other like roof shingles
