Q

What is SIn? Four definitions…

A

Action - sin is a transgression of the law, a sin of commission (committed), connected to Pesha. Overlooking God’s word, transgressing against the law.
Motives - motives matter. Romans 14:23 tells others what they want to hear, it is easy to deceive each other, and it is stupidity to believe we can deceive God. Doing something with the wrong intention is a Sin!!
State - inheritance / passed down. Sin is hereditarily passed to all humans. “we were by nature children of wrath.”
Separation - the consequence and cost of sin. We sin because we are separated from God but also being separated from God (in a more permanent way) is the consequence of sin. Sin makes a gap between man and God.

Q

Why is our sin infinite?

A

You do not sin against others, you sin against God. Sin is measured by who it is committed against, and it is always committed against God. HE is infinite, so our sin is infinite.

Q

What are the 6 realities of grace, list and explain all of them.

A
  1. The message of Grace is exclusive to Christianity. -
  2. God has always had just one method of salvation. - The method is grace.
  3. From a human perspective the message of Grace is unfair.
  4. Salvation is by grace alone NOT by works. Our works go hand in hand with faith through receiving salvation because once we have accepted grace, we will want to do good things to prove we are serious about God to ourselves.
  5. We do not want to accept the message of salvation by grace. There are two reasons for this: there is nothing in society that I can use as an example of salvation by grace, it is a gift. Because there are no examples we make reasons why we should receive grace, which leads to a prideful mindset…Spiritual pride, Secondly, the fact that We are not gracious. God says we will be forgiven when we forgive, this we will receive grace when we are gracious, but we don’t want to be.
  6. God’s grace empowers you to grow and move forward. God accepts you as you are, but refuses to leave you as you are.

  • Presents the reason to obey the commandments.

22

A
  1. God identifies in terms most relevant to His people, and they had just come out of Egypt.
