what happens in mark 4:3-20? (soil)
-Jesus tells a parable about a farmer sewing seeds
-some fell on the path and birds ate it
-some fell on the rocky places but it quickly died because it had no roots
-some fell on good soil and produced a good crop
-Jesus then explains that this is like His message falling on people’s ears
what happens in mark 4:21-25? (lamp)
-Jesus tells a parable about a lamp
-He says that you don’t hide a lamp under a bowl but place it on a stand so it can give light to everyone around
-He also talks about how you will be judged in the same manner you judge

-He says that it is one of the smallest seeds on earth but when it grows it grows to be a huge tree that provides a perch for birds

-there is a demon-possesed man who lives near the tombs
-people tried to chain him up but it didn’t work
-he cuts himself and cries out
-as Jesus approaches the demon inside of him questions what Jesus wants and proclaims that He is the Son of God
-Jesus asks him his name (Legion bc there are multiple)
-He sends the demons out of the man and into a herd of pigs
-The pigs run off a cliff
-People find out about the incedent and ask Jesus to leave
-Jesus tells the man to tell everyone his story
what happens in mark 5:21-43? (girl/woman)
-Jarius, a synagouge leader asks Jesus to heal his daughter from her sickness
-In the crowd following HIm there was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years
-She touches Jesus
-her faith heals her
-The girl dies while Jesus is speaking
-Jesus tells them that the girl is not dead but asleep
-He raises her from the dead and tells them to get her somethign to eat

-Jesus sends out the apostles two by two

-He tells them not to bring money, a bag, an extra shirt or bread

-a greek woman whose daughter is demon possessed asks Jesus to heal her
-Jesus says to let the children eat first and not feed the dogs their bread
-She responds that even the dogs get the scraps of the childresn bread
-Jesus tells her that the demon left her daughter because of her reply

-He tells His disciples that they must feed them
-the disciples do not know of a place they could get bread because it is too remote

-he spits on the man’s eyes and puts his hand on him
-he says he can see people but they look like trees
-Jesus puts His hands on the man again and heals him
