Babtism
From the Greek term babtizo, which means to “immerse.” The earliest Christian practice of the system in water appears to have been initiation rite that one underwent when joining the Christian community
Biography 
Literary genre, consisting of narrative of an individuals life, often within a chronological framework, employee numerous sub genres, so as to reflect important aspects of his or her character, principal leave for purposes of instruction,  exhortation, or propaganda
Chief priests
The leaders of the priests in the Jewish temple in Jerusalem. Many of them would have been actively involved in the Sanhedrin. Their ultimate leader was the high priest.

Four-source hypothesis
A solution to the synaptic problem that maintains that there are four sources that lie behind the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke
1.) Mark was the source for much of the narrative of Matthew and Luke.
2.) key was the source for the sayings found in Matthew and Luke but not in Mark.
3.) M provided the material found only in Matthews gospel.
4.) L provided the material found only in Luke.

The study of how authors modified or edited their sources in view of their own vested interest and concerns 
Synoptic gospels
The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, which narrate so many of the same stories that they can be placed side-by-side in parallel columns and sew be seen together 
Synoptic problem
The problem of explaining the similarities and differences between the three synoptic gospels 
Antitheses
An influential fourth century church, father and bishop of the large important church in Alexandria, Egypt. Athanasius was the first church writer to list our 27 new testament books as forming the canon
