Exam 2 Flashcards
DNAa
Binds to origin of replication (DNA Template Prep 1)
Helicase
Unwinds double helix, attaches the single stranded DNA and continues to separate (DNA Template Prep 2)
Single-stranded binding proteins
Binds to single strained DNA to keep it from rennealing, keep helix open (DNA template prep 3)
Topisomerase
Relives super-coming that builds up, relaxes supercoiled DNA by breaking one or both strands, allowing DNA to rotate then rejoining the strands (DNA template prep 4)
Primase
Synthesizes short RNA primers, creates RNA primers to initiate synthesis (DNA synthesis 1)
DNA polymerase III
Stendhal off the primer until it runs into another primer, produces new strands of complementary DNA (DNA synthesis 2)
DNA polymerase I
Extends off the DNA synthesized by another primer, fills in gaps between newly synthesized Okazaki segments (DNA synthesis 3)
DNA Ligase
Connects adjacent fragments once RNA is replaced, welds together Okazaki fragments (DNA synthesis 4)
