Exam Flashcards
Heart Block
Issues with PR segment
1st degree heart block
Prolonged PR interval (>5)
Not critical
2nd degree heart block
SAN is blocked intermittently
Mobitz type 1
Pr intervals elongate until a P wave is blocked (no QRS)
Mobitz type 2
PR intervals are consistent but some P waves don’t conduct
Mobitz type 3
2-4 as many P waves as QRS
3rd degree heart block
Complete blockage
No relationship between P and QRS
RBBB
Right bundle branch block
Deep S wave
“W”
LBBB
Left bundle branch block
Additional large R waves
“M”
Supraventricular rhythm
Narrow QRS
Atrial escape
Delay, abnormal P waves (upside down), normal QRS
Ventricular escape
3 sinus beats, pause, single abnormal QRS and T waves
Extrasystole
Any part depol at wrong time
Extra beat somewhere
Premature ventricular contraction
QRS comes early
Atrial flutter
4 p waves per QRS
Ventricular tachycardia
No P waves, rapid QRS
Atrial fibrillation
No P waves, abnormal line
Ventricular fibrillation
No P waves, abnormal line
