When proofing a copy, the mark’s used to show the corrections that need to be made.
Crop marks
Short, fine lines drawn on the image to indicate a cropped area or on a paste up to indicate where a printed sheet will be trimmed.

Format for typography that gives an aligned left edge

The first area that attracts attention and encourages the viewer to look further
Monochromatic
Use of a single hue in varying values.
Color separations
With a full color image, the printer has to separate out yellow, cyan, magenta and black to make the image suitable for process printing. This process results in color separations.
