Exam Flashcards
Three parts of the cell theory
Cells are the basic unit of life
Cells come from other cells
All living things are made of cells
Difference between Eukaryote and Prokaryotes
Eukaryote has a membrane bound nucleus
Homeostasis
Process that living things use to maintain a stable state for survival
Difference between Negative and Positive feedback loops
Positive amplifies change while a negative reduces change
4 groups of macromolecules and their monomers
Lipids- Fatty acids
Carbohydrates- Sugars
Nucleic acids- Nucleotides
Proteins- Amino acids
What do all organic compounds have in common?
Reproduction, growth, and energy process
Four structures of amino acid chain
Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Quaternary
Difference between plant and animal cells
Plants have a cell wall and chloroplast
Describe the cell membrane
Contains cytoplasm, the membrane itself is created by lipids, the cell membrane has a barrier.
Difference between Active and Passive transport
Passive is movement without energy and Active is movement with energy.
4 forms of active transport
Endocytosis, Exocytosis, Phagocytosis, Sodium Potassium Pump.
3 forms of passive transport
Hypotonic, Hypertonic, Isotonic
