Exam Flashcards
Morphing (character creation)
Morphing is used in 3D animation to change one shape to another through a seamless transition. (i.e. facial expressions, blinking, etc)
Bump Mapping (character creation)
A method of suggesting that materials have a rough or tactile surface, whilst not increasing the polycount.
Polygon (character creation)
Larger 3D shape surfaces are broken down into smaller low resolution manageable shapes like squares or triangles which helps with processing the complex 3D models.
Online Stock Sharing Library advantages
- Parts are premade and easy to take and implement a project.
- Time is saved through not needing to create these parts yourself which may end up containing errors
Online Stock Shining Library Disadvantages
- The online server could crash
- You could run into difficulty accessing the parts when the software’s traffic is high
Name for a repeated pattern around a centre point?
Radial Array.
Coil Steps
- Create centre revolution axis
- Create circle offset from axis on plane
- Apply the coil tool
- Enter pitch and number of revolutions
Tolerances importance
- Prevent rotating pieces from getting stuck/jammed
- Tolerances also allow for a comfortable fit between piece/grooves
Plan Sizes
- Ground 1:50
- Site 1:200
- Location 1:1250
File Types (websites)
Graphic file types need to be compatible with most browsers so that they are correctly displayed to users on different browsers
Graphics which contain transparency should be of PNG or GIF file format.
Video File Formats
- 3GP file format has the advantage of allowing fast downloading or transfer of video clips over the internet
- MPEG files are very high quality and are compatible with most web browsers and can be run on multiple platforms
Registration marks (Successful printing)
They are positioned in the margins of each page to help the printer operator align the colours on the press properly.
Orientation of Screen (websites)
Some PC monitors are landscape orientation.
And phone screens are in portrait orientation.
Bleed (successful printing)
Bleed is when a graphic reaches the edge of the paper to accomplish this you need to extend the graphic outside the edge of the publication
Paper opacity (successful printing)
Describes how much light can pass through a piece of paper.
Paper with high opacity is good for duplexing (duplex printing) as you are unlikely to see what has been printed on the other side.
Screen Size of Website
Screen size needs to be taken into account as computers have different monitor dimensions/screen ratios
Duplexing (successful printing)
Duplexing is when a piece of paper is printed on both sides when it goes through a printer (this saves paper)
Directional Lighting (scene enhancement)
When light is emitted strongly in a particular direction like the sun. Objects in the line of light are more brightly illuminated than other objects.
Volumetric/Volume matrix (scene enhancements)
Is a method of giving light source a sense of volume or substance (fog, windows, etc.)
Silhouette
silhouette is the negative space around and between the subjects of an image.
Quantity Surveyor
They use the architects drawings to add up how much a construction project will cost.
They may have changes to tiling, flooring, roofing to save money
Prospective Purchaser
They are the potential end user of a building who can be consulted during the designs stage to influence the specifications of certain elements of a project (kitchen requirements etc.)
Depth of field (enhance Environment)
Changing the depth of field in an image changes the focus and how much of the image is in focus.
Rule of thirds
Rule of thirds draws the eye to the most looked at points on the page.
Architects
Architects are responsible for producing drawings of buildings that adhere to planning and building regulations. This is so that they can get building warrants and planning permission
Negative Space
Negative space is the space around and between the subjects of an image.
Unlike whitespace it communicates information.
Town Planners
They review the architects drawings to determine the suitability of the proposed development on the given site (orientation, location, obstructions, etc.)
Interior Designs
They are responsible for the interior design of a building:
- Colour scheme
- Tiling
- Wallpaper
- Paintwork
- Soft furnishing
- Lighting
Top down modelling
Creating new geometry and parts from existing pieces in an assembly environment
bottom up modelling
Making each part individually before adding them to an assembly environment
Setting up key frames in an animation
- select the number of frames in the timeline.
- set the duration or the end frame of the animation.
- set up the path/tween.
- adjust the frame rate to adjust quality or refine movement.
