Exam 1- typical development review Flashcards
1
Q
Developmental milestones
A
-behaviors or skills seen in infants and children as they grow and develop.
2
Q
Newborn 0-1 month
A
- Physiologic flexion
- Sensory (touch pressure input, limited vision, vestibular fully developed in full terms, auditory, smell)
- head is turned to side
- use synergies of movement
3
Q
1-2 months
A
- less and less flexion, by 2 months almost gone
- increase in random movements
- BOS becomes more stable at pelvis
- work on their near vision in prone
4
Q
3 months
A
- inc in sagittal plane movement
- vision inc in ranges-should be able to track 180 degrees in horizontal plane
- UEs start more grasping with scratching and clutching to clothing, blankets, etc.
- actively flex LEs against gravity
- starting to see development of binocular vision
- closed chain activities in all positions
- orient and identify verticality
5
Q
4 months
A
- inc in variety of movement
- reaching for feet
- chest off surface
- roll to side
- sitting is more active with wider BOS
- bring legs up higher-more abdominal engagement inc touch pressure on rib cage
- arms are brought more inline with the body
6
Q
5 months
A
- bilateral hands to feet
- rolling-unilateral or bilateral should become more consistent
- may start seeing some frontal plane movement and control
- prone-inc activation of deep spinal ext and rhomboids
- vision starting to assist with feed-forward control
7
Q
6 months
A
- sitting independently
- vision is much better at long ranges and will be able to see caregiver in next room
- start and stop mvmc with UEs
- COM over pelvis
- start to develop anticipatory control
8
Q
7-9 months
A
- working into more rotation and getting movement in diagonal control-lead to getting sitting to 4 point
- 4 point-may start rocking or initiate creeping
-inc in ability for transitional mvmc in frontal plane. i.e, sidling to sit
9
Q
10-12 months
A
- *Variety -in all positions
- creeping
- pull to stand
- cruising
-initiating independent steps
