8-12 months. usually used as a transition as the child moves from sitting, hands and knees, or tall kneeling to a standing position

order of ball catching skills
12-18 m = flings ball
18-24 m = throws ball at large target
24-36 m =catches large ball against chest
4-5 y = throws ball and hits target
5-6 y = catches ball w 2 hands
6-10 y = throws ball well at long distances and catches w accuracy
