Describe two specific mechanisms by which influenza virus can change from year to year

A

Genetic shuffling: One cell gets infected with two viruses.Each virus has multiple chromosomes.Chromosomes get shuffled inside cell, producing a virus with some chromosomes from one parent virus and some chromosomes from another parent virus.

Random mutation: When viral nucleic acid gets copied, a mutation is made, leading to production of a mutant protein.
