Morality
What one believes is right and wrong
Moral Duty
Ones need or obligation to respond to a situation based on his/her experiences
3 Subgroups of Morality
Personal, Societal, Group
Personal Morality
a collage of values, duties, actions, and character traits each person adopts as relevant for his or her life. It is “who you are”.
Societal Morality
Values and ideas of duty that spring from deep religious, philosophic, and anthropologic beliefs about humans and their relationship with God, with each other, and with the natural world. Codified in laws, customs, and policies.
Group Morality
Moral guidelines adopted by a group. Ex: Professional morality- Embraces moral duty, values, and character traits that do not apply equally or at all to others in society.
Key difference between Laws and Ethics
A law is what you “Must do” and ethics is what you “Should do”
Patient-Centered Care, or client-centered care
Adopted in the health professions’ clinical and ethical literature to emphasize the imperative that professionals keep a focus on the well-being of the whole person.
Accountability
Holding one to account for one’s actions, assumes that one is not only capable of acting in a certain way and has the appropriate knowledge to do so but also is free to go ahead unimpeded.
Responsiveness
Willingness to engage with the other to gain a deep awareness and understanding of the person. It’s the ability to adapt one’s learning and experience to discern what the moral and ethical thing is to do in a certain situation.

Methods of referral
written documentation (including faxed and emailed) verbally, in person or by telephone, but still must be recorded to include all the information a written referral would.

When should a PT reeval a patient
At minimum, every 60 days according to the Rules and Regulations. However, medicare requires every 30 days
