Institutional violence
Violent behavior perpetuated in an organization setting, such as in the family, in the workplace, in the military, or through a religious organization.
Instrumental violence
Violence is the means to an end, such as acts committed during a robber
Expressive violence
Members see violence as a meaning to express anger, resentment, and frustration

Spillover theory
The theory that violence overlaps into different part of someone’s life. Example, some suggest the more society legitimated some kind of violence, such as in the war, capital punishment, and justifiable homicide, the more legitimates violence, such as robbery and murder, there will be.
Differential association theory
Sociological variant of social learning theory, search that if you associate with individuals and groups who use violence and who have attitudes supporting and justifying violence, then you are more likely to engage in violent behavior yourself.
Frustration aggression hypothesis
Contends that violence is one possible response for individuals who feel frustrated and thwarted in achieving something
General strain theory
Anomie theory refined by Robert it includes strands other then economic conditions. Robert are use that there are three main sources of the strand. An individual is stopped from achieving a goal, something an individual possesses or values is removed or threatened, or something negative or unwanted is imposed on an individual. When somebody experiences one of these three situations, and when the occurrence is accompanied by difficulty in coping and sense of anger, then violence may result as the person lashes out to resolve the situation through force and aggression
Serotonin
A substance that helps relay messages over a gap (synapses) between nerve cells and allows the messages to proceed. Low levels of serotonin are linked to a variety of issues, including depression, suicide, and anxiety as well as impulsive acts of aggression
Testosterone
High levels of this hormone are linked to aggression
Social learning theory
Combines various social logical and psychological insight and trying to make sense of human behavior. We learn from the things we experience, the things we see, and the people with whom we associate. We learn from surroundings, experiences, acquaintances , friends, and family. Contends that we learn any other behavior, by watching others and imitating their behavior
