Exam 1 Cardio Flashcards
Elevated T waves or U
waves are indicative of what?
Potassium problems
Normal magnesium levels
1.6 to 2.6
Normal sodium levels
135 to 145
Normal calcium levels
8.4 to 10.2
Represents the time it takes for both ventricles to depolarize and repolarize
QT interval
Can range from 0.2-0.4
Represents ventricular repolarization
T wave
The isoelectric., The plateau phase; both ventricles are completely depolarized; if Depressed or elevated this could indicate ventricular ischemia or hypoxia
ST segment
Represents ventricular depolarization
QRS complex; normal duration is 0.06-0.1
Beginning of the P-wave to the beginning of the QRS complex
PR interval; normal duration is 0.12-0.2
Normal QT interval duration?
0.2 to 0.4
Normal PR interval?
0.12 to 0.2
Normal QRS Length
0.06-0.1
Normal t wave height
0.1-0.3
For a patient in sinus bradycardia showing symptoms, what are you do?
- Oxygen
- Atropine 0.5 mg IV repeat 3-5 min….max dose able to give is 3mg
Second line medication treatment for bradycardia;
Dopamine
Epinephrine
If none of this is working you get the patient ready for transcutaneous pacing; hook them up to the electoral pads and get pain medication ready
What does atropine do?
What’s the dose for it?
Atropine increases the heart rate
Dose for sinus bradycardia: 0.5 mg IV, repeat 3-5 minutes
Max: 3 mg
