What is a phrase and a cadence?
Just as a sentence can be divided into its component units or phrases, so can a melody.
A phrase in music, as in language, denotes a unit of meaning within a larger structure. The phrase ends in a resting place, or cadence, which produces a sentence.
The cadence is where a singer or instrumental pauses to draw a breath.
What is style?
Style.may be defined as the characteristic way an artwork is presented. Style is made up of pitch, time, timbre, and expression, creating a sound that each culture recognizes as its own.
