what is the id?
part of the unconcious….this is the natural desires that operates on wanting pleasure….wants food and water…sex…goal is to reduce tension
what is the ego?
part of the conscious mind….uses rationality and intellect…tries to get the needs of ID in the best way….use the reality principle and acts in a way a person would in the world….keeps Id in check
what is the superego?
part of the preconscious.. helps function in culture and family….morality principle which meant to follow rules
what are the 3 levels of consciousness?
conscious, preconscious, and unconscious
what is the conscious level?
being aware…your surroundings…what is in front of you
what is the preconscious?
beliefs…values…memories
what is the unconscious?
things that you are not aware about….not in your mind….don’t need thought.
what are the two parts of the superego?
ego ideal….that praises self and gives a sense of pride
conscience…..learns what rules are…the voice within
what is moral anxiety?
problems between superego and ego…..the idea that everything must be right…
