Oral temp: Farenheit=96.8-100.4 Celsius=36-38 Rectal: 1 degree higher than oral Tympanic: same as rectal Axillary: 1 degree lower than oral
What is the normal range for pulse?
60-100 beats/min.
conditioned athletes can be in the 50’s
What is the normal range for respirations?
12-20 resp./min; relaxed, regular, unlabored
What is the normal range for BP?
100-120/60-80
What is the normal range for Pulse Ox?
PaO2 = 80-100 mm Hg PaCO2 = 35-45 mm Hg SaO2 = 95-100%
Why are vital signs taken?
quick & efficient method of monitoring a client’s basic physiological status
