Melody
A way to connect a melody using small jumps between notes
Conjunct
A way to name a melody in which the more connect through large leaps.
Disjunct
What moves music forward in time.
Rhythm
The basic units of a song.
Beat
Organizes music into individual sections, marked off by measures.
Meter
Shows how many beats are in a meter.
Time Signature
The stress or lack of stress placed on a note.
Accent
A way for a composer to make a part of their song offbeat on purpose in order to cause a listener to be caught off guard.
Syncopation
Comes at the end of a section of music or at the end of the piece.
Cadence
Created by a nice, calm connection of music.
Consonance
Creates an unstable and unpleasant sounding piece of music.
Dissonance
The music layers and how they relate and the 3 types.
Texture, Polyphonic, homophonic, monophonic.
Features repeated music for each stanzas of text.
