What is direct selection?
Pointing with a part of the body or a pointing utensil or switch to make their own choice on a device

Lights pass over choices on a system, and the user activates a switch to stop the light and pick a choice

User learns to use specific codes or input to create messages; can include number codes (1=Hi, how are you?) or a greater range of vocabulary options
