Exam 1 Flashcards
Four ket concepts that are key to identifying homeostasis
constancy, homeostasis, stress, adaptation
Simple stress response and negative feedback systems on how a client reacts physically
short term stress- alarm (fight or flight, the release of ACTH and catechlolemines), resistance (adaptation occurs to stressor and cortisol activity is increased), exhaustion (endocrine activity continues, body will if stress prolonged)
long term stress- is controlled by negative feedback
Infection vs Inflammation
Inflammation is redness, heat, swelling, pain, loss of function to and from an injury- inflammatory response is localized and is the result of an injury
Infectious agents are living and growing inside the body’s tissue; it is the result of bacteria or viruses
The inflammatory response is what precedes infectious response
Guided Imagery

Muscle Relaxation
tensing and releasing the muscles
Positive self image/humor
