Special Revelation

A

a. The personal act of God by which He makes Himself known by His redemptive word-work to many people so that they might come into relationship with Him.

23
Q

Illumination of Scripture - Definitive Evangelical:

A

God has revealed Himself, His power, love, glory, righteousness, kindness, grace, etc. to all humans everywhere, so that people know Him in a factual kind of way. Those who reject that revelation, and most do, are inexcusable and suffer His wrath. However anyone who responds to God’s universal drawing will get messianic revelation from Him.

24
Q

Illumination of Scripture - Ericksonian Evangelical:

A

God has revealed Himself, His power, love, glory, righteousness, kindness, etc. to all humans everywhere, so that people know Him in a factual kind of way. However everyone inexcusably rejects that revelation and suffer His just wrath. Knowledge from GR gives starting points for the proclamation of the gospel.

25
Q

Illumination of Scripture - Reformed:

A

God has revealed Himself, His power, love, glory, righteousness, kindness, etc. to all humans everywhere. However because of human perverseness and wickedness, all people are blind to that revelation. Their failure to respond to God’s revelation leaves them inexcusable and under His wrath.
