What is tracycardia?
HR > 100
What does hypoxemia mean?
Low levels of oxygen
If someone enter the exam room with respiratory problems, what is the first assessment?
Check their oxygen saturation
If a patient is assessed with bradypnea, what would this mean?
Their rate of breathing is regular, but abnormally slow (<12 breaths/ min)
What is the Angle of Louis?
The sternum angle, is the articulation of the many rim and body of the sternum, and it’s continuous with the 2nd rib
Order of the assessment of ventilation:
Respiratory rate
Ventilation depth
Ventilation rhythm
Where is the carotid pulse?
Neck
What is Orthopnea?
Dyspnea (shortness of breath) in which a person must sit upright or stand in order to breath comfortably
You are assessing the precordium. Where is that?
Area on the anterior chest overlaying the heart and great vessels
A patient is suffering from diaphoresis. What could you do to make the patient more comfortable?
Diaphoresis is sweating, so you could change their gown or bedding
Where is the radial pulse?
Thumb side of the wrist
You need to assess the femorial pulse. Where is it?
Abdomin area, just above the leg
Where is the brachial pulse?
Inside cold of arm
Where is the dorsalis pedis pulse?
Top of foot, down from big toe
Where is the posterior tibia pulse found?
Inside of foot, below ankle
