list and discuss Matthew 28
-ppl’s last words should be important to us: the great commission was Jesus’s ==> we should take this seriously
-Matthew 28 Commission (v.19) is based on AUTHORITY of Christ (v.18)– therefore witness is an act of obedience.
-In Greek “make disciples” is an imperative and the accurate translation is ‘as you are going.’ This should be a lifestyle rather than a priority (McKnight’s example: talking about his wife was so frequent and natural because he was obsessed with her). Christ shouldn’t just be a #1 priority.. HE IS LIFE.
-In US: we see a lot more of “come and hear” rather than “go and tell” (the great OMMISSION instead of TGC)—
-Teaching to obey them all the commandments implies ongoing discipleship; preaching, teaching, prayer, and preparing them to go out and make disciples themselves
Contextualism
Going going out to the culture’ Building a bridge with the culture for the gospel; Paul using Greek philosophy and thought in Acts 17; Peter using Psalms 16:8-11 to preach to the Jews
“At the Fullness of Time,” Pax Romana

Pax Romana (Roman Peace)
Protection of Roman Law (Paul advocating his citizenship)
Roman Road System (Wide and flat for legions)
Peace for Commerce and Travel (Merchant and Missionaries Traveled)
Greek Culture: Hellenism and Koine Greek, Language Spread
