Exam 1 Flashcards
Texas Gov 2306
Hobbes and Locke
Had some parts in social contracts but had different viewpoints on it:
Hobbes: said that man are at nature yearning for war and men need strong government, needed to give up certain rights to survive and protect life.
Locke: said that government was brought to preserve property and justice and that if the government couldn’t do that then the people had the right to revolt since the social contract was broken
Direct Democracy vs. Indirect Democracy
Direct only really works in small communities where everyone can easily have a say
Indirect is what we the U.S. have adopted since we voted for someone to represent us.
