A

The five pillars of Islam are shahada, salat, zakat, sawm, and hajj. Shahada if a declaration of faith; there is only one god and that is Allah and Muhammad is his messenger. Salat is the expectations of prayer. In the islamic faith, individuals are asked to pray to Allah at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and after dark. Zakat is the action of giving to those in needs. It reflects the aspect of charity by donating a portion of your assets to those who may be in need. Sawm is fasting if the individual is mentally or physically able to. Young children, elderly, pregnant mothers and more are not required to take part in fasting. The final pillar of islam is the Hajj. The Hajj is a pilgrimage to the “holy place” of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Q

List some differences between Catholics and Protestants

A

Catholics form their teachings based off of the Bible and tradition. There are no saints or sacraments in the Bible yet they make up a major portion of the Catholic Faith. Protestants only base teaching on the words of the Bible, it is the sole authority of the church. When interpreting the Bible, protestants have a fundamental approach. they take the Bible exactly as it says and do not consider the time at which it was written. Catholics have a historical approach, meaning they consider when it was written, who wrote it, and what it was meant to say at that time not the current moment.
Additionally, Catholics believe in the role of authority. The pope is the head of the leadership structure however, protestants do not follow this same formation.
