What is a Traditional Nuclear Family?
2 parents married with their biological children
what is a Nuclear family?
2 parents, may be married w/ children (biological, step-children, foster, or adopted)
what is a Blended family?
at least one step-parent, step-sibling, or half-sibling
what is an Extended family?
one parent, 1 or more children, or 1 or more other person who lives in the house that may be related or nonrelated
what is a Single parent family?
May be due to divorce, death, or maybe a single parenthood

joint custody, coparenting

multiple spouses

common ownership of propriety; relying on the group members; escaping the traditions that are normal1

what is Authoritarian parenting style?
parents try to control children’s behaviors, attitudes, through unquestioned mandates.

what is Permissive parenting style?
parents exert little to no control over the child’s actions, allow the child to regulate their own activities as much as possible, parents believe to be the “resources” not models, they think they’re their child’s friends. Discipline is lax & inconsistent and are rarely punish
what is Authoritative parenting style?
combines both other parenting styles. These parents respect individuality of a child. They may direct their behavior & attitudes by emphasizing the reason for the rules & negatively reinforcing deviations from the rules. Control is firm but consistent. Includes encouragement, understanding, and provides the child to feel in security (safe).
