EW SYSTEC Flashcards
Define Electronic Warfare
Any military action whose objective is to exploit the Electro-Magnetic spectrum
Explain the role of Electronic Warfare
3 Points
- to improve situational awareness
- reduce attrition of own forces
- defeat the enemies EW attempts
What are the two classes of jamming
Deliberate – Electronic Jamming, Electronic Neutralisation, Communications Jamming
Non-Deliberate – Mutual Interference, environmental conditions
Define Spot Jamming
a jammer focuses all its power on a single frequency, jamming only that specific channel or frequency
Define Sweep Jamming
jammer’s full power is rapidly shifted from one frequency to another, effectively jamming multiple frequencies in quick succession, though not simultaneously.
What is the difference between Spot and Sweep jamming?
Spot jamming - Jammer focuses its power on a single frequency.
Sweep jamming - Jammer shifts its full power across a range of frequencies
Define Barrage Jamming
using a wide noise bandwidth to cover several radars with one jammer compensate for any uncertainty in the radar frequency
What is RADAR Burn through
the distance from a radar at which jamming becomes ineffective, allowing the radar to receive a strong enough target signal to track it.
What is frequency agility?
the radar or communication system rapidly changes its operating frequency to avoid interference, jamming, or to improve detection
