Evolution, Adaptation, Extinction. Flashcards
How do we know that dinosaurs existed?
Fossils.
What do our adaptations depend on?
Our environment and genes that are inherited.
How does a species go extinct?
Due to competitors, predator, change in climate or destruction of habitat can force the animal to die out across the world.
How does evolution happen?
For example in a giraffe the giraffes with a short neck aren’t adapted enough to survive in their environment because they can’t reach the food so they die out and don’t pass on their genes while the long necked giraffes survive and pass on their genes to future generations and over a lot of time all the adaptations make a new species.
What is a gene bank?
Gene banks are a thing that store some type of DNA so that a species doesn’t go extinct
What do they do in gene banks?
A cryobank is another type of gene bank. Embryos, sperm and eggs are stored at very low temperatures in liquid nitrogen.
Are humans a nuisance?
Absolutely and posolutely yes.
