EVOLUTION Flashcards
What are some types of evidence to support the theory of evolution?
Big Bang theory
Panspermia
Explain the big bang theory
It suggests that through a process of expansion and explosion hydrogen gas was created which led to the formation of stars and their death led to the creation of life.
What is panspermia?
It suggests that life on earth may have originated from microorganism that travelled through space. It is believed that life was brought here by comets, asteroids or other celestial bodies.
What is natural selection?
The process through which populations of living things adapt and change. The more adapt the organism is to their environment increases their chance of survival and to pass on their genes to their offspring.
How does accepting evolution affect the way we live?
It can influence our understanding of competition and innovation by using natural selection. It can inspire us to embrace change and adapt to new circumstances. On religious concepts some people find believing in evolution hard because of their belief that God created the world but some people find a way to balance those beliefs.
Evidence to support Evolution
Anatomy :Species may find similar physical features because it was present in a common ancestor
Direct observation: WE can directly observe small scale evolution in species with small life cycles eg pesticide.
Fossils: Fossils document the existence of past species to present species.
Explain the Image of God
The Scripture says “God created man in his own image” This doesnt mean God in human but that he created us in his spiritual and moral nature.
How does the image of god affect our lives.
The image of god is what makes man human, man could not lose the image without losing himself. It is because of the image of God that makes a man redeemable and worth redeeming
Discuss the implications of man having free will and intelligence in his life.
It means we have the ability to make our own choices based on our own thoughts. we have the responsibility to consider the consequences of our actions.
