Suffering
When people have to face and live with unpleasant events or conditions
Responsibility
The idea that we are in charge of our own actions
Natural Suffering
Suffering caused by nature - natural disasters e.g tornados and tsunamis
Man-made suffering
Suffering caused by the actions of humans e.g nuclear warfare
Free Will
Having the ability to choose or determine one’s own actions
Just
Fair or right (that you are suffering)
Unjust
unfair or not right (that you are suffering)
Evil
Opposite of good, A force of negative power that is seen in many traditions as destructive and against God.
Personal Being
God is omnipotent and benevolent so has a personal relation with those on earth
Psychological Phenomenon
e.g a Miracle or a NDE - something that cannot be proven through nature
Impersonal Force
Transcendent - personal being that is detached from us but is still present
Omnibenevolent
God is all-loving
Omniscient
God is all-knowing
Omnipotent
God is all-powerful
The First Noble Truth
Suffering cannot be avoided in life
The Second Noble Truth
Suffering is caused by the three poisons
The Third Noble Truth
Suffering will not trouble you if you accept suffering and when you lose your selfish desires
The Fourth Noble Truth
There is a set of rules that will help you lose these selfish desires. - Eightfold path
