What is the “Fall”
God’s punishment to Adam & Eve for eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. The punishment was to endure suffering in life.
Who was responsible for eating the forbidden fruit?
Serpent because it persuaded Eve to take the bite
Eve because she took the first bite
Adam because he also took a bite
What are the Christian beliefs about the fall (origin of evil)?
that all people inherit the tendency to sin from Adam & Eve and that they have the ability to cause suffering. This belief is called “Original Sin”.
Who or what are the powers of good and evil also known as?
Good = God, Evil = Satan

Moral Evil = the acts of humans which are considered to be morally wrong.
Natural Evil - natural disasters such as earthquakes or tsunamis.
What is meant by “Suffering”?
the bearing or undergoing of pain or distress
What are the 3 elements of the inconsistent triad?
God is Omnipotent, God is Omnibelevolant, Evil exists
What does it mean by inconsistent?
that of the 3 elements, only 2 can be true
Give an example of an inconsistent triad
If evil exists and God is all-powerful, then He cannot be all-loving.
What is the book of Islam called?
Qu’ran
What does the Qu’ran say where evil originated?
From the refusal of Shaytan (Satan/Devil) to bow down to Adam when ordered to by Allah.
What does Islam teach about evil & Suffering?
that a knowledge of right & wrong is an essential part of human nature and that humans should know (without being told) which actions are good and which are evil (and therefore cause suffering).
