A

The criminalist will either immediately analyze the evidence, or store it in their designated holding drawer.

Where is the holding drawer located?

A

It is located at my designated work area in room 208 of wishnick hall at the branch’s laboratory on IIT campus. It is a drawer attached to the bench and is immediately to my left where i analyze evidence.

A

The evidence is only opened if it is going to be immediately analyzed. if not, it is left sealed until analyzed.

After you are done with the analysis, what is the procedure for the handling of evidence?

A

The criminalist will seal the evidence, initial and date the sealed package, and return it to the advisor. The advisor will sign the same chain of custody log sheet of which the evidence was logged in on, with initials, who they received the evidence from, along with the date and time.

what types of tests did you do?

A

I did a screening test which was the chemical color tests as field tests. They are presumptive and help identify drug family.

I performed confirmation tests using GCMS and ATR-FTIR.
