PICO
Patient: Patient using therapy
Intervention: A new therapy
Comparison: Would this be better than the existing therapy
Outcomes: What do we want to solve
Systematic Approach
- Ask requestor for contact details
- Collect information related to how question was classified
- Formulate the ideal question based on classification
- Restate question to confirm with requestor
- Use CRAAP to evaluate and synthesize data to compose a response
- Give response
- Follow up as needed
Systematic Approach (Ask)
Collect background information to identify the needs of the requestor
Systematic Approach (Collect/Classify)
Creates a more focused question that will target what needs to be answered vs what was asked
Classification helps to frame the problem and understand the nature
Systematic Approach (Ideal Question)
Build question from background to create a focused question that responds to the question that needs to be answered
Systematic Approach (Search Strategy)
Identify search terms
Choose credible, relevant, and appropriate resources
Systematic Approach (Evaluate)
Use CRAAP to evaluate the data

Tertiary
CRAAP
- Currency
Is it recent enough? - Relevant
Is it relevant to the topic at hand - Authority (Credibility)
Status of people publishing? Bias Risk? - Accuracy
