A

• desert ordered major general Khabalov, commander of the Petrograd military district, to restore order by military force
• soldiers were ordered onto the street and around 40 demonstrators in the city center were killed
• a mutiny began in the Volynkii regiment, where is Sergeant shot his commanding officer dead
• 66,000 soldiers mutinied and joined the protesters arming them with 40,000 rifles
• police headquarters were attacked and prisons were opened
• later in the day, the Duma he held a meeting despite the tsars orders and set up a 12 man provisional committee to take over the government
• the army’s high command, which had already ordered troops to march to the capital To restore stability, changed their mind and ordered them to halt and give support to the Duma committee
• the same evening revolutionaries set up a Soviet, which also intended to take over the government
• began to organize food and supplies for the city
