A

They can be similar because they are both bringing people into religion even though they are doing it differently and for different reasons, forcing vs. Letting them choose.

Q

Knowing the good news vs. Knowing the cute to a disease

A

If you know the cure for a disease, but don’t tell anyone because you are afraid of being “pushy” or “judgy” the person wouldn’t like that you kept it a secret. Presenting them with a known solution is an act of love and fulfils Jesus’s command to “love one another” and to “go make disciples of all nations.”

Q

How does lack of encounter with the person of Jesus affect someone ability to evangelize

A

One cannot share Christ if one has not first encountered Christ, or effectively share the gospel without experiencing it’s power in his own life. Not everyone has experienced this encounter with Christ.

Q

What are 3 common misconceptions

A

I do not force my religion on anyone.
Evangelization is fathers job.
I don’t share my faith because I am not trained or knowledgeable enough to do it.

17
Q

I do not force my religion on anyone

A

The church never imposes the faith, but always proposes it.

18
Q

Evangelization is fathers job

A

Most Catholics believe evangelization is the job of the clergy. It is the common priesthood of believers responsible for sanctifying the temporal order and evangelization of the culture. We will only see new evangelization take root when the sleeping giant that is the laity of the Catholic Church is finally awakened.

19
Q

I do not share my faith because I am not trained or knowledgeable enough to do it

A

Catholics who believe this lack of formal education should not prevent us from giving simple witness to our faith in Jesus Christ. A witness born of a genuine encounter and friendship with him.

20
Q

What is the new evangelization

A

The new evangelization is the process by which baptized members of the Catholic Church express the general Christian call to evangelize.
The new evangelization is not a new message. We need the gospel to be explained in a clear and simple way so that we can respond and make the faith our own.

21
Q

What is the kerygma

A

The basic 4- point gospel message that is at the heart of all Christian faiths.

22
Q

What is the 4- point gospel message

A

God created us for a relationship with him.
We broke that relationship with our sin.
Jesus restores this relationship with god thought life, death, and resurrection.
We are invited to live this new, restored relationship by putting god at the Center of our lives today.
