A
a girl who is newly wedded then deportated after the separation of her and her husband(gabriel) and the loss of her father. (Dies on beach) she is left alone with nowhere to go as her house has been set on fire, and she refuges place to place in search of gabriel.

Who was Gabriel?
A
Evangeline’s lover, who was serparated shortly after their wedding that day. He is found by Evangeline after a few years, in which he is in a Pennsylvanian hospital. The first time she sees him in forever is also her last.
