• Good: demonstrates how the human brain works, therefore can be generalised and applied to real life
• Bad: Lack of control, there may be other factors that are affecting their memory such as trauma, furthermore there’s no way to assess their memory before the accident

• Good: high level of control therefore produces valid results
• Bad: Not as easily generalised to real life, also increased demand characteristics

• Good: can be generalised to everyday situations, low demand characteristics
• Bad: low control, therefore other factors may be causing the change rather than the variable that is being investigated, so may be hard to replicate
