How does the study have low generalisability?
Point: Low generalisability
Example: Sample was made up of volunteers. Made up males and females selected from ‘Applied Psychology Research Unit’
Explain: This means that the volunteers were enthusiastic about the study
How does the study have High Reliability?
Point: High in Reliability
Example: Baddeley took them findings from his other studies and studies of others and explored the issues in more detail
Explain: Consistency between the findings. The study is said to be reliable
How can the study applied to be real life?
Point: Helps students in education
Example: Results suggest the learning of word sequence is impaired by semantic similarity.
Explain: When learning new information, students should not revise topics close together which are similar as they may get confused in the LTM
How does the study have low relaibility?
Point: Low in validity
Example: Participants already knew what to expect from the study except from the last task.
Explain: Participants would not be showing natural behavior and therefore show demand characteristic. Therefore the study does not measure real life behaviour
How does the study have low ethics?
Point: Some ethical guidelines were broken
Example: The surprise recall task at the end of the study may have breached informed consent - participants were unaware
Explain: This means participants were deceived whoever this was necessary to avoid demand characteristics and to get accurate results
