A
  • if a person is suffering they may judge that life is not worth living
  • many people have long drawn out deaths which are not dignified
  • it is very expensive to treat terminally ill patients and that money should be spent of those which a greater chance of survival
  • it is the right of everyone to choose the manner and time of their death

  • a doctors diagnosis can be wrong or a cure may be found
  • people could distrust their doctors if they are advising people to die
  • patients may not be in the right state of mind to know what they are asking for
  • people could feel pressurised into asking for it

  • it is wrong because it goes against the sanctity of life
  • the CCC says that life belongs to God not to us
  • if death is imminent withholding treatment or providing pain relief that could quicken death is acceptable
