Enclosure Movement
to take public, commun land and change it to privately owned land, usually with walls, fences or hedges around it.
Commons
cultural and natural resources accessible to all members of a society. These resources are held in common, not owned privately.
Crop rotation
is the practice of growing two (or more) dissimilar type of crops in the same space in sequence.
Power Loom
a loom operated by mechanical or electrical power.
Entrepreneur
a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.
Jethro Tull
was an English agricultural pioneer who helped in the British Agricultural Revolution. He perfected a horse-drawn seed drill in 1700 that economically sowed the seeds in neat rows, and he later developed a horse-drawn hoe.
Seed Drill
device used in agriculture that sows seeds for crops by positioning them in the soil and burying them to a specific depth. This ensures that seeds will be distributed evenly.
Flying shuttle
was developed by John Kay, and it was one of the key developments in weaving that helped fuel the Industrial Revolution, enabling the weaver of a loom to throw the shuttle back and forth between the threads with one hand.
