Romulus and Remus added later- twins- suckled milk of she-wolf, became ferocious, abandoned by mother since father was Mars, Romulus kills Remus
Wolf is symbol of defiant Rome- associated with Mars
wolf has taut muscles, exuberant, psychic intensity, interacts with viewers, snarls
