- ethos, pathos, and logos appeals must be evaluated as to trustworthiness - both when we create arguments and when we evaluate argumentation - when doing rhetorical analysis, ethos, pathos, and logos is our default. all legitimate argumentation will have these three elements. They are the building blocks of strong argumentation - the foundation of argumentation in our own writing as well as in our analysis of the writing of others
