Ethics in research Flashcards
CARDUD
Ethical guidelines in conducting a study – consent (informed), anonymity/confidentiality, right to withdrawal, deception, undue stress or harm, debriefing
Consent (informed) (conducting)
Participants sign a form that states they agree to participate in the study and must be informed of the aims and objectives of the experiment
Anonymity (conducting)
Removing participants’ names from data
Confidentiality (conducting)
Not publishing any participant’s name in the final report
Right to withdrawal (conducting)
Participants must be informed of their right to leave the experiment at any time

Debriefing (conducting)
Telling participants after the study has concluded what the purpose was and what the results were

Telling participants how the results will be reported
Disclosure (reporting)
Disclosure of conflicts of interest in the research
Data fabrication (reporting)
Reasonable measures should be taken to report accurate results (can be hard to apply)
