what are the 5 principles of medical ethics?
autonomy - individuals should have the ability to make decisions concerning their own life, free from external coercion and from manipulation of their beliefs and preferences.
benficience - produce a benefit
nonmalificience - unavoidable harms should be proportionate and justifiable
justice - two axioms: “treat like cases alike” and “justice is impartial”
respect for human diginity - each human being is of equal moral worth. ex. helping a patient pursue a life worth living, also not insulting patients behind their back or ignoring them maliciously.
