What to do if competence does not meet a patient’s presenting problem and they are undergoing an emergency?
If more appropriate services are available to better match clt needs, even if suicidal, connect clt to those services asap.

Unethical due to therapist not being able to remain objective

To meet competency requirements in order to work with a new/unfamiliar diagnosis/presenting problem?
You must ensure competency by obtaining training, supervision (ongoing), or consultation (usually 1/x)
What if you are somewhat familiar vs not at all familiar w a presenting problem?
- obtain consultation
- obtain supervision
When a psychologist uses marketing what are they responsible for ensuring?
- include license number
- must not be false
- must not be misleading
what are the consequences of false or misleading advertising? what type of disciplinary action taken?
a. $2.5K (citation/fine - non) and/or 6 mo/jail
