Motivations for Ethical Reletivism
existence of Moral Opinions, a desire for tolerance and freedom, Absolutism is false

Because of the variation we can’t tell people what they are doing is wrong because our opinions is just as true to us as theirs is to them
Problems with Variation of Opinions
Some people are just going to be mistaken, beliefs can be wrong

We must be tolerant, other people are none of my busniess
Problems with Tolerance
Someways promotes extreme intolerance, burning people at the stake is right because they think its right
Absolutism is false
Some killings are not wrong so ethical relativism must be true

An act is morally permissible or wrong because an agents group thinks it is
Problems with group ethical relativism
- Overlapping groups/contradictions
- Tyranny of the majority
- Hitler Objection
Problems with individual relativism
- Ignores the victims point of view
- Permits punishing of the innocent
- Hitler objection
Individual Ethical relativism
An act is morally permissible or wrong because the agency thinks it is.
